More Success for 'The Magpie' at 'The Independent Horror Movie Awards'!

Updated: May 12, 2022

The Magpie is continuing to have a successful festival run, despite the ongoing pandemic. We are honoured and very pleased to have won 2 awards at ‘The Independent Horror Movie Awards’ and be nominated in 7 other categories.

Winner: Best Sound, Best Atmosphere.

Nominated: Best Short, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Actress, Best Special Effects, Best Kill.

Winning the awards for Best Sound and Best Atmosphere, further fuels my belief that the core strength of the film revolves around its use of sound. Whilst making the film, we became aware very early on that it would be the sound that would make or break the movie. It was here that we decided to devote a large amount of our time and it clearly paid off. A huge thanks goes out to Simon French and Chloe Spicer for the audio recording work as well as Joe French for piecing it all together over many days and nights with me in the edit suite. Another huge thank you must go to Alan Sallabank who worked on the final Dolby Atmos sound mix for the film, which elevates the experience to a whole new level. Another post is coming about that process soon so stay tuned.

The continued success of the film, as well as its acceptance into a number of festivals we haven’t announced yet is testament to the amazing amount of time and energy the team put into the project.

This has definitely given us even more drive to keep developing new projects and share them with all of you as soon as we can.
